Well, Grumpy isn't going to blow his own trumpet, and the old boy has been sweating cobs over this rather wonderful creation...

A 65cc Cyclemaster Twin sporting a Grumpy special 180 degree crankshaft assembly, home brewed exhaust nuts, washers, pipes, silencers, tailpipes, carburettor clamps, trumpets and cable elbows, throttle cable splitter box and much else...

Sparks by way of a Boyer Electrickery

Made with the aid of highly colourful language!

Top effort old fellah...

I have to say I am totally in awe of Grumpy's creationsmile

I don't how these old boys do it, my father is from a similiar mould, he once built a 1000cc two stoke twin by linking two Honda CR500 Motocross engines (with the Gearboxes chopped off) together, this didn't really work so he then built a 1000cc Flat Twin two stroke ( basically a big version of a Velocette Viceroy engine) based on  two Watercooled CR500 Heads and Barrels, this was incredibly powerful, very smooth  but a right pig to start.

I hope Grumpy continues the development of the Cyclemaster twin and looking forward to sampling the finished product.

By the way Worzel could you look at the Soapys Aussie Tour thread and comment on the recent machine additions ....

Both of them must be utterly mad by the sound of it Squirrel Minor.
With that sort of heredity, in a few more years we'll be seriously barking too...surprise

Did you spot the 1920's 1/2d coins that Grumpy has used as choke flaps on the dinky Amal 308's?

What is the performance like?

I bet it shoots up hills!

Hi Fender,

Grumpy hasn't ridden it in anger yet, but It should go up hills very nicely, even with the 13 tooth drive sprocket that he has fitted in place of the standard 11 tooth cog.

All being well it will be fully fettled and out and about on the Sad Ol' Gits run in May.

I managed to take a quick video whilst it was running. Quality's not that good, but for those of you that weren't there, it might just give you a taste of what you missed!

Great post Tony.

Bit of work to do on the ignition / timing methinks!

Sounds like a pair of rutting weed wackers.
Has he thought up a convincing tale to explain this abomination to the DVLA?

I think he's struggling a tad on that score Dolly!

I heard him rehearsing some cock and bull story about it being an early Ariel Arrow prototype... "that shrunk unexpectedly when washed in Persil, rather than, er, Ariel"

Would welcome any other suggestions however...

Bearing in mind the DVLA is composed almost entirely of Welsh persons Grumpy could try invoking their national pride by claiming to be the only remaining motorcycle manufacturer in Wales.
He could then register it as a Rhonda 50?

A Rhonda 50 - good thinking!grin

I arrived in Yorkshire when I was 3, prior to that, Grumpy took us to live in Colwyn Bay for a couple of years, where my sister started school, so there is a little bit of Welsh connectivity in the Family...

With the present misfire and the small dribble of oil emanating from the clutchcase, (a Bangor and a Leek you might say) you could just be onto a winner there...

Looking at the pair of coins choking the twins eyes (carburettor trumpets), you might also be forgiven for thinking that the twin has Dai'd!

Are the coins two `ape knees` to refect the owners age and lack of mobility? Or are they just the most valuable part of the bike?

You could call it a `Rondine` if you added a couple more cyclinders and fitted a blower.

I saw a "Rhonda 50" at Sars Poteries a couple of years ago and it looked nothing like Grumpy's machine smile

I think you will find that was the left hand drive Rhonda 50 De Luxe Export Model which did look markedly differerent from the standard version. As it wasn't for use in Wales they saved money by not fitting the music stand, sheep restrainer and storm drains.

Crikey Peter - living in Colwyn Bay !! no wonder he's Grumpy. It might also explain the reckless splashing out of two pennies on the venture - extremely untypical with your average true Yorkshireman.

Grumpy here.My computer had a few viruses and I have just now seen the comments. No doubt my twin will have a few glitches also. I see dolly is concerned re registration, but as I worked in Wales for a washing machine manufacturer I have made parts of it throw awayable.. The outside engine comes off in 5 mins and a standard cyclemaster cover goes on so it can be run as a 32 cc cyclemaster` as the ignition stays with the inner engine. So no universal number plates. Just eventually a cc change. Several faults appeared and one weakness has been left to see if it does fail but so far so good. By the way you can get a complete bike and motor for what I paid for the electronic ignition. If any one wants to make one, set asside a couple of hundred hours and a very comprehensive workshop. Thanks for the interest. Grumpy

Worzel is away in China and may be back 30th April. He might be back for the Sad old Gits when hopefully the twin will be on the road. Its been dated . Form filled in Insured.and MOT d. Now requires a date with the scrutineer at a designated test station. Then a number will be issued and we can see how it goes. Its a bit involved costs 55 quid plus a test fee. Might get a twin engined electric bike text time. Grumpy
