The Nippi
Does anyone know what honda melody model the 1980`s Nippi Tricycle was based on ?
I'm sure it was the NC50. Have you got one or are you looking for one?
The Honda version of the Nippi Tricycle was based on the NS50MSB this was the Electric start version of the Honda Melody, this had 10 inch wheels, the Mini Vision had no electric start and narrower wheels.
The Honda NC50 is the Express Model which either had a clockwork Kickstart, or conventional kick start but both with spoked 14 inch wheels.
I have ridden and worked on a Nippi based on a 80cc Piaggio Scooter which was even more exciting to ride
Thanks for the info.Another question, according to the DVLA this vehicle is Tax and MOT exempt and is classed as a SV.
However as I am NOT disabled will I qualify for these exemptions?
Nowhere on the DVLA form asks if I`m disabled ?
Thanks for putting me right on that one Carl, I knew we could rely on our resident Honda expert! They also come in a 125 version which must be terrifying. I asked whether Paul wanted one because there's one for sale near me. If someone doesn't offer it a good home I might be forced to invest myself. Further details on request.
Think you have answered you own question " NOT disabled" will not qualify. So will require an MOT, then good luck with trying to insure, then Tax as a Tricycle.
I thought mine was based on a Melody II nd50m.
Regards Dave.

Possibly this might have been the deluxe version which had a luggage space in the right hand side panel, I will have to look in my reference books and check.
Everything else was the same though, I would have thought Nippi would have used whatever Melody models they could get hold off.
The ex Devonport Collection of Crap and Classics Nippi, now in the care of Davwat, was insured on my Footman James Rider Policy with no problems.
Talking about FJ,,,if you are insuring a Trojan Mini Motor ,,,dont call it a mini motor ,call it a Trojan cyclemotor as they refuse to insure anything mini motor ( mini moto? ) on a rider policy ,I tried explaining this to a sixteen year old femail FJ clerk ....lifes too short...
Had a similar problem with them and the Nippi "we do not insure trikes" but to be fair when I said they had insured it b4 and after several "hold why i ask" i got there in the end.
Hi Nick from the home of The ex Devonport Collection of Crap and Classics. Cound not belive it the other day when i spotted a Safari waiting to pull out of a junction, just down the road from my work depot.
I hope that safari is still going well. We had fun derestricting it at Sacrewell and tearing round the field in it. Its' twin lives in the USA now with a guy called Ian Hellings, a well-known microcar collector and invalid carriage enthusiast. He has an understanding wife!
I came across this website and thought it may be of interest.....
